Citizens for the Restoration of Historical La Mott (CROHL) invite you to this year's Black History Month program.
Date: Sunday, February 28, 2016
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: 7420 Sycamore Ave., La Mott, PA 19027
David Harrower, historian and author will speak about "View of Transparency."
In November, 1864, in Philadelphia, there was quite a spectacle when a massive ‘transparency’ was put up in front of the Headquarters of the Supervisory Committee for Recruiting Colored Regiments, “…In Commemoration of Emancipation in Maryland.” Come hear what it was, why it was done, who made it and what each of it’s myriad illustrations signified. Learn, too, which USCT regiment from Camp William Penn paraded through the city’s streets as part of the celebration!
Kerry Bryan in attendance as Lucretia Mott
Joe Becton and Antoine Watts, musicians and USCT re-enactors, will perform Civil War music and lead a sing-along.
Ed McLaughlin, historian & veterans’ advocate, will speak about “Camp William Penn Soldiers Buried in Philadelphia National Cemetery”
This is a free event. Donations will be accepted.
